Understanding Wage Determination Numbers

Dec 21, 2025

Every Davis-Bacon wage determination has a unique identifier called a WD number. Understanding how WD numbers are structured helps you quickly identify and verify the right determination for your project.

WD Number Format

A typical WD number looks like: 2015-IL-BLD-00123. The components typically indicate the year issued, the state, construction type code (BLD=Building, HVY=Heavy, HWY=Highway, RES=Residential), and a sequential ID.

Revision Numbers

Each WD has a revision number (e.g., Rev. 12) that increases with each update. The WD number stays the same across revisions — only the revision number changes. Your contract should specify both the WD number and the revision.

Finding a WD by Number

If you have a WD number from your contract, use our direct WD lookup to find the determination. You can also search by county and construction type.
